“For the last two decades, I’ve worked hard to solve problems and improve lives in our community. Just like I’ve never given up when the going gets tough as a mom or an elected official, I’ll never stop fighting for YOU.

”Together, I know that we can build healthier, more resilient communities that work for everyone.”

TAKING ACTION. GETTING RESULTS.

A longtime advocate, conservationist, farmer, and public servant, Sue Shink is an effective, solutions-oriented leader who gets things done. During her service as Chair of the Board of Commissioners, Washtenaw County has made historic progress on civil rights and lasting infrastructure investments that will pay off for years to come. Sue is a proven fighter for our shared values and knows how to bring people together to help working people, students, and seniors.

Now, Sue is running for State Senate to keep solving problems, improving people’s daily lives, and building a more inclusive, prosperous future for every Michigander who calls our great state home.

Sue’s running in Michigan’s new 14th Senate District!

Following the 2020 Census and Michigan Independent Redistricting Commission’s process, Michigan’s new 14th Senate District will be one of the most competitive in the state. The new SD-14 encompasses portions of both Washtenaw and Jackson Counties, including the northern half of Ann Arbor, all of the city of Jackson, and rural swaths of both counties. The new lines present an opportunity for a strong, organized Democratic campaign and candidate with a clear, resonant message to flip this seat in 2022 — and Sue Shink is the best candidate to get across the finish line. As Democrats sit just FOUR SEATS away from the majority in the State Senate, this seat is critical to flipping the chamber in November!

  • “When COVID-19 struck our community Sue saved lives. Sue sprang into action to make sure residents had everything they needed to stay safe, working with me and others to get supplies to the most vulnerable residents in the township. She even spent her own money buying hand sanitizer, bottling it and delivering it to residents in Section 8 housing. Then she worked hard to get testing and vaccination to everyone.”

    — Brenda McKinney, Superior Township Treasurer

  • "Sue is a longtime champion of doing what's right and advocating for the people she serves. She has the values, skills, and experience necessary to effectively represent the interestof the people of Washtenaw and Jackson County. Sue will be the kind of outstanding state senator we need in Lansing."

    — Jerry Clayton, Washtenaw County Sheriff

  • “Sue not only understands what good government means as a public servant who led our county through the pandemic, but she also knows firsthand the challenges facing local families as a mom and parent. I’m confident that Sue is ready to hit the ground running for all of us as our next Senator. There’s no on-the-job training needed for Sue Shink!”

    — Christopher Taylor, Ann Arbor Mayor

  • “In the years I’ve had the privilege to know and work with her, Sue Shink has always been a bold, effective and progressive leader for Washtenaw County, a steadfast ally to the LGBTQ+ community, an unwavering champion for our environment and natural resources, and a strong advocate for working families. At this critical time in Michigan’s recovery, that is exactly the type of leader we need fighting for us in Lansing, and why I am proud to endorse my friend, Sue Shink, for State Senate."

    — Travis Radina, Ann Arbor Councilmember

  • "I've never believed in anyone's ability to make real change in office more."
